About Luciano Massa
Hailed by Abel Carlevaro as an “intelligent and talented guitarist with excellent conditions for the guitar and music”, Luciano Massa was born on June 5th, 1980 in La Plata (Argentina).
He studied classical guitar at the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory of his hometown under tutelage of Jorge Gordillo and then continued his studies at the Fine Arts Faculty (Universidad Nacional de La Plata), graduating with honors as a Classical Guitar Professor.
In parallel, he followed courses and masterclasses in Buenos Aires with Víctor Villadangos, Eduardo Fernández and Eduardo Isaac.

He completed his education abroad with Abel Carlevaro in Uruguay and Johan Fostier in Belgium.
He had also the chance to take part in different masterclasses in Switzerland, Germany and Spain given by some of the most renowned classical guitar players like David Russell, Hubert Käppel, Ricardo Gallén, Pablo Márquez, Judicaël Perroy, and ultimately found a great source of inspiration in the advices and lessons he received in Belgium from Hughes Kolp.
Luciano Massa has also won prizes and scholarships in Argentina and Spain:

Currently based in Ghent, Belgium, Luciano Massa has been widely performing in Europe and South America, both as a soloist or taking part in different chamber music ensembles.
Praised by the audiences for his poetical approach to sound and his eloquent and colorful interpretations, he made his European debut in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2008. From then on, he has been offering concerts in several countries of Europe, frequently invited to perform in different guitar festivals and venues in Argentina, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain. His performances have also been broadcast on Dutch and Argentine television and radio stations.
During the 2023-2024 season Luciano Massa was chosen by Mro. Johannes Dewilde for the Flemish tournée together with the world renowned choir Amaranthe, playing ten sold out concerts in ten different Flemish cities, being warmly welcomed by the audiences and even playing for the Belgian Prime Minister De Croo and his cabinet.

Luciano Massa’s interests range from Renaissance to XXIth Century Music, including jazz, tango and Argentine folk music. The music of Argentina, his homeland, is the topic where he is fundamentally specialized.
As well, he is frequently involved in different chamber music projects playing together with his sister Eugenia (viola) or also performing in duo with violin, bandoneon or guitar duo.
Luciano Massa's discography includes two solo albums
In 2007 he released Uco, a CD with music by Jan Logy, Francisco Tárrega, Walter Heinze, Héctor Ayala and Carlos Moscardini. This album was recorded and produced in Argentina.
In 2019 he released Que lo diga el río, his second solo album including a repertoire of Argentine music. Que lo diga el río was recorded at Baros Records, a prestigious classical guitar label established in Slovenia. Luciano Massa is since 2019 a Baros Records artist.

Also a passionate pedagogue, Luciano Massa has been teaching classical guitar since 2005, working for the Fine Arts Faculty (Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina), Promusica Tielt (Belgium) and the Arts Academy of Ghent (Belgium).
He has been sharing his love for music and classical guitar, coaching and inspiring guitar students from all around the world to develop new ways of expression and reach all their potential.
Nowadays Luciano Massa teaches classical guitar at the Academie voor Muziek, Woord en Dans De Kunstbrug, in Ghent.
